Langtang Helambu

The Langtang & Helambu trek is a Himalayan route of moderate difficulty, located near Kathmandu. It passes through the magnificent Langtang Valley with its traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages, monasteries and spectacular alpine landscapes. The route leads to the Kyanjin Ri viewpoints and the sacred lake of Gosainkunda. After passing the Laurebina pass (4,600 m), the descent takes place towards the green region of Helambu, known for its forests, terraced fields and Buddhist monasteries. It is an authentic trek, ideal for discovering the Himalayas far from the crowds.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Langtang trailhead starts at Syabrubesi. We travel from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by private jeep or public bus, which takes about 6 to 8 hours along mountain roads offering beautiful valley views.
You need the Langtang National Park Entry Permit and the TIMS Card. These permits are included in your trek package and will be processed by our guide at the park checkpoint.
The highest point is Kyanjin Ri at 4,773 meters (15,659 ft) or Tserko Ri at 4,984 meters (16,351 ft). These viewpoints offer breathtaking 360-degree panoramas of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.
Yes, the region has fully rebuilt. Langtang Village has been relocated to a safer site, and modern, sturdy teahouses have been built along the entire trail. The community is eager to welcome trekkers back.
Mobile reception (mostly NTC) is available in most villages but can be weak in the deep gorge sections. Wi-Fi is offered in Kyanjin Gumba and other main stops for a small fee.
You can enjoy traditional Dal Bhat, momo (dumplings), thukpa (noodle soup), as well as porridge, eggs, pasta, and pancakes. Yak cheese produced locally in Kyanjin Gumba is a must-try delicacy!
